The use of open standards for broadcast service protection is an important factor in the success of Mobile TV

Beep Science provides solutions for device manufacturers and mobile broadcasters; supporting service and content protection for Mobile Broadcast, including DVB-H (18Crypt) and OMA BCAST (DRM profile)

Open standard DRM versus closed Conditional Access Systems

Only with the adoption of open standards can the mobile operators and broadcasters secure the availability of a wide selection of compatible Mobile TV devices. Using closed Conditional Access Systems (CAS) the broadcasters will be tied to a single CAS vendor, forcing them to order custom devices from the handset manufacturers with support to their chosen protection technology. For device manufacturers, supporting several different CAS systems in today’s fast moving consumer electronics market would be a nightmare.

Solutions for the Mobile TV value chain
